Adding Documents into CASCADE

  1. Go into the “_COMMON” site

     
  2. The “New” menu should now have many options
     
  3. Pick the “Document file” item

     
  4. This will open the “New File” page
  5. Drag the file you want to add into the “Drag file here” area or click the Browser button and select the file
     
  6. The default System Name will be the name of the file, but you can change it (it if has spaces in the name I recommend replacing those with underscores). The System Name is what will show up in the URL in the browser so a clean name is beneficial.

     
  7. The most important step is:
    Make sure to select the correct Parent Folder.
    This should be the folder where you want the document to be saved in Cascade. By default it will be whatever you last clicked in the _COMMON site. This is almost universally wrong. So you must click the browse icon next to it (underlined below) which will open the “Please choose a Folder” dialog. From there, select the site in the dropdown at the top of the dialog (second underline) and drill down in the left nav to find the particular folder you want to contain the newly uploaded document and click it. This will put the selected path in the “Current Selection” section of the dialog (third underline). Then click “Confirm”

     
  8. You will see the selected path displayed in the “New File” page

     
  9. Then you can Submit the new file and it will get deposited into the chosen folder.
